Hubby has a '73 trident - with 3 amal carbs. He took off the right side spark plug while it was running, with no noticeable change. Of the three ignition points, which one leads to that spark plug? Help appreciated - we don't have a manual of ANY kind.
Triumph trident running problem?nortan
Simple answer:The Middle or ''Top'' points fire Right Cylinder.
.........................................
Sitting on bike,,the cylinders are numbered 1-2-3
aka Left-Middle-Right
Firing Order is 1-3-2
aka Left-RIGHT-Middle
On the Points Plate,,,,the 3 sets of points are arranged in a roughly Left-TOP-Right sort of Position.
*Left set,,towards rear of bike fires #1/Left Cylinder
*Center or ''Top'' set fires #3/RIGHT Cylinder
*Right set,,towards front of bike fires #2/Middle Cylinder
.........................................
Tridents are Unusual in a way....
ANY of the points can be made to be #1 set,,,and the breaker plate can be position almost anywhere.
But Regardless of that ,,,the SEQUENCE is always the same counting from whatever Points happen to be #1.
It MUST follow Firing Order,,,,,1%26gt;3%26gt;2
No matter where #1 Cyl Points are on breaker plate,,
Moving Clockwise from there the Next Set to Fire Must be Cyl #3/Right Hand
